Description

Tutors are being sought to address student achievement in the Lower Merion School District.  Individual tutors will be hired by the District to work one on one with students across elementary and secondary levels.  Tutors will work with one student at a time.  The tutoring location will be designated in collaboration with the student, parent(s), and referring teacher with oversight provided by the Building Principal.  In most cases, tutoring will occur before or after school hours at the school site and the number of hours will be determined by the needs of the student and availability of time.  Initially ten (10) hours of service can be expected.

 

External tutors will be evaluated on their expertise/experience in the specific field (eg., Literacy, Biology, Algebra) and their experience in working in a classroom or instructional environment.  External tutors will be expected to attend required training to learn about the District's expectations,curriculum, and student needs.

 

Tutors will be required to provide the following:

  •  Child Abuse clearance, PA Criminal Clearance, and FBI.  Information on the required clearances can be found on the District's website.  Clearances must be less than one year old.
  • A current physical examination (within three months of your start date) including a negative TB test.
  • A current resume and completed application.

Compensation will be $42.07/hour
